Mental Health Awareness Course (Full Day)

 

What does the course cover?

  • What mental well-being means.

  • What might contribute to mental ill health.

  • Exploring common mental health conditions – stress, anxiety, depression.

  • Mental health continued - bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorders, OCD.

  • Suicide – who is at risk, how to help someone feeling suicidal, if someone needs help urgently, looking after yourself.

  • Empathy – what is empathy? why is it important?

  • Stigma – what is stigma? How does stigma affect mental health, how can we tackle stigma.

  • Mental health & the law – Mental Health Act 1983, Equality Act, protected characteristics.

  • Mental Health & Life – how common are mental health conditions, resilience, boundaries.

  • Looking after yourself– where to find support & coping strategies for you.

  • Sources of support.


Who is this course for?
This course is designed for anyone looking for a better understanding of mental health conditions, and how to support someone with mental health illness. 

What is the course aims?

  • To explore mental well being

  • To raise awareness of mental health illness & how it may vary from person to person.

  • To explore how mental wellbeing & mental ill health interact with daily life.

  • To introduce participants to common mental health conditions

  • To highlight stigma & discrimination & how to tackle them.

  • To look at ways of looking after yourself

How long does it last?

The course runs for 7 hours (to include two 15-minute breaks & one 30 minute break)

Timings may vary slightly if discussions run longer or there are unexpected interruptions.

How much does it cost?

For our full day Mental Health Awareness Course, the cost is £650.
